About

The ethos

Doodad and Fandango is deeply passionate about small business and mindful manufacturing. By handcrafting art and homewares to order, the brand celebrates thoughtful production processes while striving to minimize waste.

D+F loves nothing more than working with the customer to make one of a kind pieces, connecting the consumer with the excitement of creativity. Each piece is designed and made in Darug and Gundungurra Country aka the Blue Mountains, about one hour from Sydney.

In a world where architecture, interior design, and fashion are increasingly drained of color, D+F believes that surrounding ourselves with vibrant hues and artistic expression can stimulate the imagination and uplift the spirit.

About

The artist

Nikita Majajas, the creative force behind Doodad and Fandango, began her design journey during a two-year stay in Japan in the late 90s, a place she still draws inspiration from. After returning to Australia, she studied fashion design and shoemaking, working in TV commercial production before pursuing jewellery and object design.
In 2014, she founded Doodad and Fandango, initially handmaking pop art costume jewellery before investing in a laser machine that transformed her practice. Her pieces have adorned celebrities and divas and featured in global editorials, runway shows, and exhibitions. In 2023, her designs appeared in the Absolutely Queer exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum during Sydney World Pride. Now based in the Blue Mountains, Nikita is expanding into art, decor, and homewares.
